Image Gallery: Adirondack Park, NY

The Adirondack Park in upstate New York encompasses a 6 million acre mix of public and private lands the size of Glacier, Grand Canyon, Great Smoky Mountains, Yellowstone, and Yosemite National Parks combined. It’s a nature photographer’s paradise with nearly 3000 lakes and ponds, 30,000 miles of rivers and streams, and 43 mountains over 4000 feet. One of the most challenging aspects of photographing there is deciding where to go! You could spend several lifetimes and never exhaust all of the locations. In early October of 2008 I climbed Mt. van Hoevenberg. It offers one of the best views into the High Peaks region. Arriving shortly after dawn, I experienced one of my finest mornings of photography. The autumn color was at peak and the dappled sunrise light was illuminating the mountainsides while fog swirled in the valleys. It was a morning I will never forget. This image gallery contains my favorite images taken over a 20-year period of time.
